Islam-bashing has become a common phenomenon in many parts of the world these days. People talk about our religion as if it were a curse to be a Muslim. Why is it so and how can we turn the course? These are the very questions every thinking Muslim man and woman with a sound mind faces on daily basis.
The Muslim world is in turmoil. There are problems almost everywhere. Take the example of Pakistan, my homeland, or Turkey, or the Middle East or some remote country situated in Africa. You will see people fighting with one another in many Muslim lands. In fact, the whole Muslim world is undergoing an identity crisis due to one reason or another. The concept of the
Muslim Ummah exists only in name but not in reality.
Currently, there are two major blocks of Muslim countries. One is being controlled by Iran and its allies. The other group is being controlled by Saudi Arabia and its mostly Middle Eastern allies. Both the groups have been fighting proxy wars against each other. The West is fuelling these wars by providing weapons to various countries and creating strife between Shia and Sunni factions in many Muslim countries.
Most of the present-day Muslim countries gained independence from their colonial masters in the twentieth century. The then leaders of these countries had great ambitions and the vision to modernize their respective societies and economies.
However, many of these countries, instead, have seen erosion of the founding principles on which they were based at the time of their independence. Many of these countries have faced a revival of religious intolerance, hatred, illiteracy, corruption and what not.
